Tucked inside the Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West, Virgin Active Padel Club – Lourensford pairs proper, well-maintained courts with one of the best backdrops in the Cape — vineyards on one side, the Helderberg range on the other. It’s one of the home clubs Cup Series teams can choose at registration.
When it began
Padel arrived at Lourensford as part of Virgin Active’s push into dedicated Padel Club venues across South Africa, riding the same wave of growth we cover in our piece on padel’s boom in Cape Town. The estate started with two courts and has since grown to four, with a fifth currently under construction to keep up with demand from the Helderberg’s fast-growing padel community.

Do I need to be a Virgin Active member to play?
No — courts are open to everyone. Virgin Active members get a 20% discount on every booking.
How do I book a court?
Bookings run through the Playtomic app, the same platform most Cape Town padel clubs use.
What are the rates?
Off-peak (6am–4pm, Monday to Friday) is R350 per court per hour. Peak (5pm–10pm weekdays, plus weekends) is R450 per court per hour.
Can I rent a racket and balls?
Yes — rental is R60 per person on site if your own kit isn’t sorted yet.
Is there parking?
Yes, parking is available on the estate.
Is pickleball available too?
Yes — the venue offers pickleball alongside its padel courts.
